Opinions

NIKITA MIKHALKOV

Dear friends! I am glad that the Russian Cultural Foundation has become an official partner of the All-Russian Literature Award «Far East» named after V.K. Arseniev this year. Such awards confirm the need to keep, preserve and protect all that is called the Russian tradition in culture. Russian literature meets all the needs of the human soul and mind. If there were no other literature except the Russian one, we would remain self-sufficient in terms of meaningfulness, range vision, and sense of style... And this is a great heritage and wealth that no other nation has. Therefore, the existence of such literature awards is very important. They serve an extremely important function: to remind us of vibrant vigor that is Russian thought, culture and tradition.

EVGENY KNYAZEV

RECTOR OF THE BORIS SHCHUKIN THEATRE INSTITUTE

In order for people to really know and appreciate the history of their native land, to understand the modernity of the Far East, it is necessary to hold such contests as the All-Russian Literature Award «Far East» named after V.K. Arseniev.

Andrey Chikhanchin

First Deputy CEO for Commerce and Finance, Aeroflot PJSC.

The Far East holds special significance for our airline as we fulfill the vital mission of ensuring accessible air travel for all the people of Russia. We welcome every opportunity to support the Far East's vibrant literary traditions and discover fresh voices in contemporary Russian literature.

Valeriy Limarenko

Governor of Sakhalin Region

The Russian Far East is opening up to the world through the pages of literary works. These works reflect the unique mindset of the local people—their commitment to the ideals of creation, truth, and justice, their thirst for knowledge and discovery, their unity, courage, sincere respect for the customs of other people, and their bond with nature. It was these virtues that led our ancestors to the shores of the Pacific Ocean and made Russia a mighty Eurasian power.
The Far Easterners of today continue the work of their fathers and grandfathers. Federal district has become a territory of accelerated economic and social development, thanks to their commitment and support from the President V.V. Putin. It is here that cooperation with the Asia-Pacific region and the Global South is being established, laying the foundation for growth throughout the 21st century.
In this setting, the All-Russian Literature Award "Far East" named after V.K. Arsenyev fosters patriotism. It plays a crucial role in strengthening a common cultural space, and has a direct impact on the present and future of the federal district and the entire country.

Vasily Orlov

Governor of Amur Region

OLEG KOZHEMYAKO

GOVERNOR OF PRIMORSK REGION

Books dedicated to the Far East give opportunity to learn more about our unique region and fell in love with it. I am glad that the Arseniev Award helps gain interest in the history and modern life of the Pacific Russia. And, most of all, our feeling of blood kinship with the past of our homeland deepens with help of literature and culture. This is what helps preserve the rich spiritual heritage of our multinational region. The famous traveler Vladimir Arseniev, who was а versatile individual, a figure of national scale, opened the Ussuri region to the world with his expeditions. Today, when Russia has made a strategic turn to the East, we witness rapid economic growth and social development in the Far East. The region is becoming one of the main trade, economic, scientific and educational centers of the country. We have everything for this - support from the federal center, a favorable geographical location, significant economic and tourist potential.

VASILY ORLOV

GOVERNOR OF THE AMUR REGION

The Far East is a unique region that has always attracted the attention of creative people. Many literature works are dedicated to the Far East, while our nature, people, grandiose construction projects and large-scale prospects continue to inspire talented writers. President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, called the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District an absolute priority for the entire 21st century. Economic growth is impossible without the development of culture, which is why it is so important to support creative people.

Aysen Nikolaev

Governor of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Dear organizers and nominees of the All-Russian Literature Award "Far East" named after V.K. Arsenyev!
Warm and heartfelt congratulations on the launch of the seventh All-Russian Literature Award "Far East" named after V.K. Arsenyev!
This remarkable Award is dedicated to supporting and fostering the creative development of Russian and international writers whose works celebrate the Far East. For centuries, our republic has cultivated a unique cultural heritage, shaped by the traditions of various ethnicities, and we have countless stories to share through poetry and prose with all of Russia’s diverse nations. It is especially symbolic that this seventh edition of the Award coincides with the 125th anniversary of Yakut written literature. The origins of Yakut literature trace back to 1900, when the great Yakut writer, philosopher, and enlightener Alexey Kulakovsky penned his renowned poem "Bayanay’s Blessing." Yakut literature has made an extraordinary contribution to the spiritual enrichment of our people, and its significance cannot be overstated. We are proud to prioritize literary development and actively support the republic’s talented young creators.
Esteemed Yakut authors such as Anna Pshennikova, Oleg Sidorov, Anatoly Slepkov, and Natalia Kharlampieva, whose names bring pride to our republic, have repeatedly participated in this literary competition. Their remarkable works have become a treasured part of the literature Award’s legacy, celebrating the beauty of their native land, the culture and traditions of the Sakha people, as well as the past and future of the republic. These pieces have graced the pages of the competition’s anthology, published over the years to honor the finest entries.
We are delighted that this year the Award has been granted international status. Eminent literary masters and rising talents are joining in: from Moscow to Vladivostok, from Kazakhstan to China and Korea.
This demonstrates the growing interest of people across Russia and around the world to the progress of Russia’s Northeast, to its fascinating history, stunning natural landscapes and the unique cultural heritage of the Far East’s indigenous communities.
May this celebration of literature spark meaningful connections, unforgettable moments and well-deserved rewards!
Let this Award become a significant milestone in each author’s creative journey, inspiring them to craft new literary works that celebrate the cultural heritage and unique beauty of the Far East!

Vladislav Kuznetsov

The Far East and Chukotka have long been a magnet for celebrities and writers of fiction and documentary works. Clever books and works of great talent can play a significant role in the region’s development. Yuri Rytkheu and Oleg Kuvaev introduced Chukotka to millions of readers in the 20th century, sparking immense interest and inspiring many professionals to relocate to the region.
Chukotka is now experiencing dynamic growth, with major projects underway across the region. As it attracts new specialists, cultural development remains a key factor in enhancing quality of life for its residents.
The All-Russian Literature Award named after the outstanding explorer, writer and traveler V. K. Arsenyev helps support young authors who write about the Far East. They open up the culture, history, nature, and potential of our regions to a wider audience.
I wish the prize continued growth and discovery of new voices. May readers enjoy captivating literary works.
